Higher lignan concentrations tied to lower diabetes risk

Research published in Diabetes Care revealed those in the highest quartile for concentrations of two lignan metabolites had a significantly lower risk of type 2 diabetes than those in the lowest quartile. The link between higher enterolactone concentration and reduced diabetes risk was greater in heavier patients, researchers said.
