Pediatric group updates well-child visit guidelines

All newborns should be screened for congenital heart disease, and Pap smears should not be conducted on girls before age 21, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. The guidelines, published in Pediatrics, said physicians should conduct depression screening from ages 11 to 21, cholesterol screening between ages 9 and 11, and HIV testing between ages 16 and 18.
