Shanghai to expand online-learning platforms in elementary, middle schools

Officials in Shanghai are looking to integrate free online courses, which have become popular in colleges, in the city's primary and middle schools. Officials say the online study platform, modeled after massive open online courses, could be launched later this year. "On this platform, students can finish some of their study tasks, which may include some courses. This may help reform the education method and improve students' interest in learning," education commission official Ni Minjing said.
