USPSTF recommends against certain supplements for cancer, CVD prevention

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force issued a final statement recommending against beta-carotene or vitamin E intake to reduce risk of cancer or heart disease, and the document recommends further research into the effects of vitamin supplementation. The recommendations, which do not apply to patients with known deficiencies of vitamins or those with chronic conditions, appear in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
