Engineering prize goes to first wired building

The National Academy of Engineers awarded its annual $500,000 Draper prize to four engineers who designed a cutting-edge building -- 30 years ago. Robert Taylor, Alan Kay, Butler Lampson and Charles Thacker worked on Xerox's research center in Palo Alto, Calif., where they designed the first computer networked building.
