Marriott International says as many as 40% of its 100,000 rooms in the development pipeline are full-service and half are outside of the U.S., as the brand enters its 50th year in the hotel business. "The wave of baby boomers that has begun retiring means more bookings for Marriott," Chairman and CEO J.W. Marriott Jr. told the company's full-service general managers at a recent meeting in San Francisco. "As these retirees travel more, they turn to brands that have earned their trust over the years -- and Marriott is high on that list."
