Diabetes raises depression risk for some mothers

A study found low-income, diabetic women who are pregnant or recently gave birth were twice as likely to develop depression as expecting women and new mothers who did not have diabetes. Researchers said biological changes that occur with diabetes could be a factor, along with the stress of managing a chronic illness.
