Japanese retailers shift to store brands

Japanese retailers, much like their counterparts around the world, increasingly are introducing additional store brands, which are as much as 30% less expensive than national brands, to cope with the retail slump. Aeon, the second-largest retailer in Japan, is not only adding store brands, it's dropping the prices of its existing ones.
