Candy and soft drink taxes become law in Colorado

Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter has signed into law tax increases on candy, soft drinks and other items in a bid to close the state's budget gap. "Signing these bills was not something I wanted to do, but it was something that was necessary in order to keep the budget balanced and to continue positioning Colorado for a strong and healthy recovery," the governor said.
