IBM researches affordable solar-cell production

IBM researchers are investigating common materials that can be used in solar cells to make production more affordable. Current silicon-based solar cells use indium and tellurium, which are rare elements in high demand. IBM has developed a hydrazine solution, which is composed of copper and tin with nanoparticles of zinc, for use as a coating on solar cells.
