Looming federal budget cuts may delay cybersecurity efforts

The automatic budget cuts set to take effect at the beginning of March could stymie newly rejuvenated cybersecurity efforts in the U.S. and slow down implementation of President Barack Obama's recently signed executive order, observers say. Among the agencies likely to suffer from sequestration are the Pentagon, which oversees the lion's share of the nation's current cybersecurity program, and the National Institute for Standards and Technology, which is responsible for spearheading the president's unilateral initiative.
