CDC: Obesity rate falls 43% among preschool-age children

Overall, obesity rates among U.S. youths and adults have held steady since 2003, but the prevalence of obesity among 2- to 5-year-olds dropped significantly between 2003 and 2012, CDC researchers said Tuesday. The report, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, also revealed an increase in the number of obese women over age 60. "The rapid increase in obesity we saw in the '80s and '90s has definitely slowed," lead author Cynthia Ogden said.
