Wilocity debuts 802.11ad networking chipset for mobile phones

Wilocity has developed the Sparrow chipset, which uses the 802.11ad wireless standard to provide data transmission rates of up to 5 gigabits per second. Sparrow will be teamed with other chips for use in mobile handsets. Wilocity plans to start sampling the WiGig chipset in the third quarter.
