Editorial: Infrastructure spending saves lives, boosts economy

Noting that Florida Gov. Charlie Crist has joined a bipartisan effort to spur federal spending on infrastructure, the Tallahassee Democrat is calling on President George W. Bush to push for a second economic-stimulus bill focused on public works rather than tax refunds. "It's critical that the federal government, in partnership with the states and communities, embrace its responsibility as the financial catalyst for major projects that have been neglected for far too long," the paper maintains.
