FAA to install runway safety system in Los Angeles

The FAA plans to install a $6 million lighting scheme that will help pilots keep their planes at a safe distance while on the ground at LAX. The system was successfully tested at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport following a spate of near misses at airports nationwide.
