Food companies work toward nutritional rating systems

A group of scientists known as the Nutrient Rich Foods Coalition have come up with a food-rating concept called "nutrition profiling" that uses mathematical calculations based on a number of variables to assign nutrition scores to foods. The group is one of several organizations and companies seeking ways to better inform customers of the overall nutritional value -- or lack thereof -- of different types of foods.
