Trader Joe's hits $6.5 billion in sales last year

Trader Joe's long-established strategy of providing unique products -- such as Greek-style yogurt, 10 kinds of hummus and a "low-sudsing," biodegradable house-brand laundry detergent -- at affordable prices has worked well for the grocery chain. The company's stores carry about 2,000 products, compared with 30,000 in a typical supermarket, and about 80% of those goods are private-label.
