Analysis: Some CRE opportunities could abound this year

Trouble in commercial real estate could linger for years, Randyl Drummer writes in a CoStar Group analysis, but some investors may strike short-lived opportunities as debt-laden owners unload distressed assets. "The dislocation in the financial markets has left institutional investors with a range of attractive investments across practically every asset class, and in every region of the world," Prudential Investment Management CEO Charles Lowrey said. "That creates opportunities in the long run, but also demands that [defined-benefit] plans absorb the lessons from the current crisis so they are well-positioned for a new economic reality."
