Stimulus-package funding dedicated to transportation and construction projects will help revive the broader economy, industry experts say. They note the package will put $136 billion into the construction industry. This amounts to a 130% boost in federal construction spending from the previous fiscal year, Associated General Contractors of America CEO Stephen Sandherr said. Meanwhile, Robert Murray, vice president of economic affairs at McGraw-Hill Construction, said public-works projects will be the "saving grace of construction" for the next two years.
