House calls gain in popularity

A small but growing number of medical providers is making house calls, especially for senior and chronically ill patients. Laptops, portable X-ray machines, digital cameras and other technologies help providers keep information coordinated and secure. "The real benefit is the access. You get to see people in their own environment. You learn things you wouldn't normally know," says Dr. Steven Landers, medical director for home health care at the Cleveland Clinic.
