Sears Tower owners mull energy-efficiency strategies

The owners of Chicago's Sears Tower want to boost the skyscraper's energy efficiency but have not settled on how. A newspaper reported earlier this week that the owners were considering re-covering the 110-story landmark in silver mirror glass. "Changing the facade color of the Sears Tower from black to a lighter color that absorbed less heat would reduce its air-conditioning costs," said Doug Farr, a Chicago architect.
