"The Simpsons" to become longest-running prime-time TV show in U.S.

"The Simpsons" this fall will become the longest-running prime-time series in U.S. TV history, after Fox gave the go-ahead for two additional seasons. The animated comedy series last year marked its 20th season, which placed it in a tie with previous recordholder, "Gunsmoke," which wrapped its two-decade run in 1975.
