Broadcasters: Cable companies are resisting fair compensation

Responding to an op-ed by Steve Friedman of the American Cable Association, Washington State Association of Broadcasters chief executive Mark Allen argues that cable built its success on the very broadcast transmissions it is now resisting paying for. "Cable subscribers still devote nearly half of their viewing time to programming offered by broadcasters," Allen writes. "Despite this recognition, cable operators continuously balk at fairly compensating TV stations."
