Develop worker confidence to boost productivity

Employees who have their confidence bolstered by opportunities to learn and grow are more productive, says Jim Harter, co-author of "12: The Elements of Great Managing." Leaders should help workers set specific "stretch goals," then schedule regular meetings with the workers to measure progress, he says.
