Rule on patient EHR access needs clarification, standards group says

The interim final rule on how providers will grant patients access to their electronic health records and the information that should be included in these records should be clarified further, according to members of the Health IT Standards Committee. Among the concerns are the rule's definition of "online access" and how "timely electronic access" should be interpreted, said Dixie Baker, the committee's privacy and security workgroup chairman.
