T-Mobile USA points to aggressive network upgrades

T-Mobile USA focused on its aggressive upgrades to its advanced 3G network in its earnings report Thursday after pinning its fourth-quarter subscriber turnaround on new prepaid and wholesale customers, which helped depress revenue 1.6% from a year earlier. In its annual report, parent Deutsche Telekom pointed to the doubling of its national 3G reach and network speeds -- to 7.2 megabits per second -- as helping to drive mobile-data revenue. And the company pointed to plans to upgrade 30 metropolitan areas to speeds topping out at 21 Mbps.
