Vet promotes disease prevention in pets

Aside from obesity, the most common health issues in pets are "problems caused from waiting, meaning a lot of pet owners don't take their pets to a vet until there's a serious problem," says Dr. Jeff Owens, a veterinarian in Tulsa, Okla. Owens urges owners to provide their pets with annual blood work, regular dental care, heartworm prevention medication and AVMA's recommended vaccines.
