Huawei breaks from gate with its first quad-core phone

Huawei Technologies on Sunday unveiled the Android 4.0-powered Ascend D Quad, part of a line of devices that will feature the company's K3V2 quad-core processor, which Huawei says outguns Nvidia's Tegra 3 chip. Huawei Chairman Richard Yu introduced the flagship handset at an international industry event in which he pointed to the Quad's 64-bit memory bus -- double the Tegra 3's width. Other handsets in the lineup are the Ascend Quad XL and the Ascend D1.
