Externships aim to help Tenn. STEM teachers improve instruction

More than 60 teachers in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System in Tennessee will spend a week this summer with local businesses to study real-world applications of the science, technology, engineering and math lessons they teach students. District officials said that while this summer's program already has more than 20 Clarksville STEM business partners, additional companies are needed to work with the more than 60 fifth-, eighth- and ninth-grade teachers who will be participating this year.
