Fla. county manager urges 6% budget cut

Lake County, Fla., Manager David Heath has told departments and constitutional officers that they will have to make a 6% budget cut to help the county avoid a property-tax increase and use of reserves. Despite rising home prices, officials expect that property value will decrease 3%. Heath says he expects the general fund to be down $8.6 million next year.
