GLP-1 drugs raise pancreatitis risk in type 2 diabetes

Type 2 diabetes patients who took glucagon-like peptide-1-based drugs such as sitagliptin and exenatide had a twofold increased risk of hospitalization for acute pancreatitis within 60 days of starting treatment compared with those who took other diabetes medications, according to a study in JAMA Internal Medicine.
