Scientists discover lost micro-continent of Mauritia

A land mass under the Indian Ocean islands of Reunion and Mauritius was once a micro-continent that was created by the separation of tectonic plates when Madagascar split from India millions of years ago. Scientists speculate that the continent, dubbed Mauritia, was formed 60 million years ago by the same volcanic plumes that helped create the Indian Ocean.
