UPHS says it will stop hiring workers who use nicotine

University of Pennsylvania Health System said it will stop hiring people who smoke for its Pennsylvania facilities, citing health care costs and the risks of secondhand smoke exposure. Current employees who use nicotine and do not enroll in smoking-cessation programs will have higher insurance costs.
