Ferry service requests assistance from Nova Scotia regarding bond or guarantees

A company that plans to offer ferry service between Portland, Maine, and Nova Scotia has asked the provincial government to help it obtain a surety bond or other financial guarantee required by the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission. The company must obtain as much as $15 million in coverage that would go toward providing refunds in the event that service is canceled.
