N.Y. training program focuses on coaching, using data

A group of 48 New York teachers are participating in a training program that focuses on the use of data and teacher coaching. Offered by the Boards of Cooperative Educational Services, the Strengthening Teacher and Leader Effectiveness program is expected by educators to lead to improved teaching and learning, plus higher test scores. "Now we're letting kids think, talk, and make sure they understand the right answers so then they can give it back in class and it makes the kid feel successful too," said Scott Symons, a teacher participating in the training program.
