Design improvements drive mixed-use comeback

Mixed-use development is making a comeback on the coattails of a renewed interest in living and working in the same place, and being near vibrant retail and entertainment areas. In recent years, residential units over retail were considered undesirable due to noise and car fumes, but newer developments are being designed so the two can co-exist.
