Report: Wal-Mart used mobile texting in hush-hush test

Wal-Mart sent promotional e-mail messages to consumers' mobile devices over the holiday season in a test that reached hundreds of thousands of customers, according to an Internet report. In the research, which Wal-Mart reportedly kept secret, the company sent messages about short-term sales and gained some insight into what consumers liked and objected to in the e-mails.
