Workshop transforms immigrant parents into education partners

Southern California immigrant parents are learning how to help prepare their young children to enter school and aid them with homework, via a specially designed workshop conducted by the school's kindergarten teachers. "You're the first teachers of your children," principal Susan Ahern tells the parents. "We have them six hours a day; you have them for 18."
