AAP report addresses "fever phobia"

An AAP report in Pediatrics said that parents shouldn't be overly fearful if the child has a fever, as fevers are a normal reaction to illnesses, are often benign and may even be protective. The report said pain relievers can ease a child's discomfort, but stressed that parents should monitor for symptoms of other illnesses rather than focus on bringing the fever down.
