Airlines' distribution system needs to evolve, IATA says

The emergence of airline ancillary fees has highlighted the need for a universal product distribution system that offers transparency and ease of access to travel agencies, airlines and consumers -- something that today's GDS platforms lack, the International Air Transport Association says in its official publication. The group says it is working on development of a standardized platform that would allow airlines to offer their full range of products while giving agents and consumers greater flexibility.
