Ovary-based stem cells can produce human eggs, researchers say

Researchers say they've discovered and extracted stem cells in human ovaries that generate egg cells, which could mean new avenues of research in reproductive biology. "This is unequivocal proof that not only was the mouse biology correct, but what we proposed eight years ago was also correct -- that there was a human population of stem cells in young adult tissue," said Jonathan Tilly, who led the new research as well as a similar study of mice.
