Study: PET/CT with CT perfusion improves lung cancer diagnosis

Combining CT perfusion imaging with PET/CT scans yields additional data on tumor viability in patients suspected to have lung cancer compared with CT or PET/CT alone, according to an Italian study. The study found that necrosis can be an indicator of tumor aggressiveness and perfusion parameters can help determine prognosis and monitor treatment.
