Medical experts urge Senate to avoid major Medicare cuts

The best way to trim Medicare expenses would be a systemwide effort to "reduce unnecessary utilization" and enhance coordination of care, medical experts told a Senate committee. A survey found that the majority of Americans supports having drugmakers give the government discounts for low-income seniors' medications as well as asking high-income seniors to pay more for Medicare, the Kaiser Foundation's Juliette Cubanski said.
