New franchisees revive Checkers brand in Fla. county

Four Checkers restaurants in the Brevard County, Fla., area closed in 2009 after the owner filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Three of the four stores were recently reopened, and new owners Linda Schultz and Alan Balen plan to open eight new units in the county after studying demographics, traffic patterns and customer demand in the area. "I think you just have to stay with the (corporate) vision, quick service," Schultz said.
