Shell suspends Alaskan offshore drilling program for 2013

Royal Dutch Shell will "pause" its Alaskan offshore exploration activities this year, said Marvin Odum, president of Shell Oil. Odum noted progress in Shell's drilling program, but he said the company prefers to take a safe and measured approach to it. Shell began drilling in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas in Alaska in 2012 but was slowed by a series of setbacks.
