Study: Socioeconomic factors linked to PET access in NSCLC patients

Not all Medicare beneficiaries with non-small cell lung cancer have the same level of access to PET imaging, according to a study from Duke University. The study found that patients who are black, older or who reside in areas where education or income are lower had fewer scans compared with other patients. The researchers reviewed Medicare reimbursement data between 1998 and 2007.
