Why mobile will be key to retailers capitalizing on flash sales

Some flash sales sites realized as much as 50% growth in sales during the holiday season, compared with a 14% for overall online shopping. Now more retailers are looking into the strategy and as they do so, mobile will be "a really critical part" of the effort, said Bob Egner, vice president of product management and global marketing at EPiServer US. "People who are in their normal life are getting interrupted by some message that is coming to them on a mobile device, usually a smartphone, and they are making a quick evaluation and purchasing based on impulse," he added.
