GOP tries to make CFPB more like CFTC and SEC

Republicans have long said the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau should be under Congress' supervision, similar to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission. The GOP-controlled House has passed a bill to swap out the CFPB director for a commission that would answer to Congress. The measure is likely to fail in the Senate.
