LTE-Advanced takes quiet but steady steps forward

Qualcomm and Intel highlighted their efforts to speed development of LTE-Advanced technology, which promises to deliver faster downloads speeds over networks based on Long-Term Evolution. Qualcomm demonstrated modems this week that powered a Galaxy Note 3 phone from Samsung Electronics, which can deliver a theoretical speed of 300 megabits-per-second. Intel unveiled its XMM 7260 platform, marked for a June release and demonstrated a phone that uses carrier aggregation technology.
