Pew: Americans view the Internet as a plus for society

The public overwhelmingly feels that the Internet has proved beneficial to society, and its use has reached 97% among those ages 18 to 29, according to a Pew Research Center report. Internet use has almost doubled, to 87%, compared with 2000, with 53% of adults saying that it would be "very hard" to do without the Internet, compared with 34% who said the same about television.
